I built ASM because choosing a university schedule should not require rebuilding your whole life around it.

How it got here

Why this exists, what I learned while building it, and where it is going next.

What bothered me: Picking courses sounded simple until I tried to fit university around work and the rest of my life. The information was scattered, conflicts appeared late, and every choice affected something else.
What I realized: I did not need another timetable. I needed to see my real options before committing to one—and understand what I would gain or give up with each choice.
What I’m building: ASM takes the course data, the constraints that actually matter, and the student’s priorities. It generates schedules that can be compared instead of making someone assemble one blindly.
Where it is now: The core system works. It generates and ranks possible schedules, and the interface makes them easier to compare. This is the first WIP project that became something I can actually use.
Next: Build Phase 2: the Academic Year Planner. The chosen timetable will continue into a week-and-month planning space that also holds exam dates, reminders, assignments, and papers—so the schedule becomes something I can actually use to prepare for the semester ahead.
